How We Met...

9th August 2004 – Mufaddal’s Visit to London

On 9th August 2004 Mufaddal and I met for the first time at Heathrow Airport. I remember waiting anxiously at the airport waiting to greet him. I can say that from first impressions, I wasn’t disappointed. I knew that I wanted to spend my life with him; I knew that this was the man for me. However, I later learned and I am hesitant to add that his first impression was slightly less surreal. He had recently told me that when we first met, he remembered glancing at me and thinking, “She’s wearing too much makeup” :)
Our first date was simply unbelievable. We clicked right from the start. I remember being sat in the park and asking him if he wanted to sleep on my lap as he was feeling the jet lag from the day before. He answered, “Yes”. As he rested on my lap I slowing started to glide my fingers through his hair in an attempt to put him to sleep. It was perfect and so romantic and the weather was hot. It brought us even closer together, and strengthened the bond between us. After a short walk around St James Park we decided to head off to a restaurant. We were seated and began glancing over the appetizers when we came to the realization that we were the only ones left inside the restaurant…well, it was relatively late the day was gradually coming to an end .
Mufaddal and I spent an incredible 12 days together in the UK. These days felt like a fairytale dream and I couldn’t bear for it to end. Within those days Mufaddal was able to meet my Mum, Dad and Two Brothers, who he all got on with very well and were happy for us both.
We visited many places whilst in London, looking at the sights including The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussauds, Windsor Castle and a Double Decker bus tour of London. We also spent a day in the North visiting Leeds (My home town). We both knew from the first day that we would be spending the rest of our lives together. The whole duration of his holiday was beautiful and breathtaking.
